| In seiner Geburtsstadt Pressburg erhielt Spech seine musikalische Ausbildung, die er 1799 mit einem Studienjahr bei Joseph Haydn vervollkommnete. Ab 1804 war er 12 Jahre lang Dirigent des Deutschen Theaters in Budapest, danach folgten Aufenthalte in Paris, Wien und Oberlimbach. Er komponierte Opern, zahlreiche Kirchenmusiken, Kammermusik und Musik für Tasteninstrumente. Vor allem aber muss er neben Johann Fuss als erster Liedkomponist ungarischer Herkunft gelten – um die 100 ein- und mehrstimmige Lieder hat Spech hinterlassen.

Vier Kantaten aus dem April 1725 stehen diesmal auf dem Programm. Kurz vor Ostern diesen Jahres hatte Bach sein Projekt eines Choralkantatenjahrgangs zum Abschluß gebracht, wenn auch nicht vollendet. Nun kehrte er mit „Bleib bei uns“ und den folgenden Kantaten zum konventionellen Typus zurück, der sich am für die Lesung des Sonntags vorgegebenen Abschnitt orientiert. Alle vier Werke haben die Begegnung des Auferstandenen mit seinen Jüngern zum Thema. Zwei Gastinterpreten sind für diese Folge zu nennen: Dan Laurin, der den virtuosen Blockflötenpart in BWV 103 übernahm, und der Cellist Dmitry Badiarov, der eine eigene Rekonstruktion des Violoncello piccolo-Parts in BWV 6 vorstellt. |

Sämtliche in dieser Folge vorgestellten Kantaten entstanden und erklangen im Mai 1725 in Leipzig. Die Texte schrieb die Leipziger Dichterin Marianne von Ziegler (1695-1760) offensichtlich auf Anforderung Bachs. Es sind Meditation über die biblischen Geschehnisse im Zusammenhang mit der Himmelfahrt Christi und der Ausgießung des Heiligen Geistes an Pfingsten.
