| Diese Aufnahme klassischer Tanzmusik möchte Sie in das London der 30er Jahre entführen, ins Monseigneur Restaurant, jenem legendären Ort, wo Lew Stone und seine 13-köpfige Monseigneur Band ein exklusives Publikum erfreuten. Von hier aus ging ihre Musik in wöchentlichen Direktübertragungen der BBC über den €ther und begeisterte in den Glanzzeiten des Radios ein grosses Publikum. Lew Stone und seine Band wurden über Nacht berühmt und ihre unbeschwerte Musik, mit viel Witz und Charme vorgetragen, hat in all den Jahren nichts von ihrer Spritzigkeit eingebüsst. Lew Stone war nicht nur ein ausgezeichneter Arrangeur, er verstand es auch, aus seiner Band immer wieder das Beste herauszuholen. Nat Gonella, der 2. Trompeter der Band, sagt in seinen Erinnerungen: «Jeder einzelne von uns Musikern war gut, aber gemeinsam waren wir unschlagbar». Die vielseitigen Stücke mit grossen Stimmungswechseln, vom sentimental Schwärmerischen bis hin zur überschwenglichen Fröhlichkeit, sind von einer hinreissenden Musikalität.

| The production and recording of this album is unique in the sense that it combines the delicate balance between the rather special sounds achieved during the period from 1954 - 1963 while at the same time taking advantage of contemporary recording techniques.
In order to achieve this we have, as far as possible, used the original instruments for example the Hammond Chord organ in the tracks where Johnny & the Hurricanes was the aim, and a Fender Stratocaster from 1962 with a Vox AC-30 original Amp from 1964 for the Shadows tracks. Also a UniVox organ from the 50´s where the Tornados song "Telstar" * was the inspiration. |

Stücken erschienen. Er setzt das erste Licht
(„Morning Light“) in Töne um, beschreibt die Weite des
Meeres und die Tiefe des Lebens („Life is an Ocean“), die
Weite Amerikas („American Dreams“), rühmt die Schöpfung
(„Wonderland“) und dankt für göttliche Inspiration
und Führung („The real spirit“, „Jesus is love“).
Sein Titel „Nordsee“ („North Sea“) hat es übrigens in
den Vereinigten Staaten bereits zu Radioehren und einer
Platzierung auf vordersten Chartsrängen gebracht. Manche
sprechen schon von einem neuen, deutschen Bob
Dylan.
Michael Engels Musik möchte man in einer Stunde der

Originally issued in 1969, Goldene Trompete in Stereo features the virtuoso trumpet style of Horst Fischer as he interprets beautiful melodies including film themes such as Rififi, A Man and a Woman and a medley from the film Dr Zhivago alongside other contemporary material such as Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In from the ‘Hair’ musical, and Jim Webb’s Up, Up and Away. Bob Powel’s exhilarating trumpet playing is heard on Golden Trumpet Highlights from 1971. More films themes are on offer in his readings of, among others, The Windmills of Your Mind from ‘The Thomas Crown Affair’, Deguello from ‘ Rio Bravo ’ and Once Upon a Time in the West as well as popular numbers such as I Dream of Naomi and Butterfly. Werner Müller’s fabulous arrangements provide the perfect accompaniment for these two superb soloists.
